Profit improvements result in a higher price at sale, as well as more sale options. Improvements are also critical for reducing red flag issues (customer concentration, CMG works with sellers to implement meaningful changes to increase profits. Our work focuses on expense reduction and high ROI improvements. Buyers and lenders give 100% credit for these changes, and pay a multiple of the increase in profit.
A surprising number of sale efforts fail (around 70% of auctions). To prevent a poor outcome, we provide the seller with a more tailored exit solutions. We prepare a company for sale or transition to get the seller the best possible after-tax result, but at the same time address the numerous soft issues that are important but often neglected by brokers and bankers: family considerations, founder’s ongoing involvement, employees, community, charitable interests and many others.
In our experience, most private sellers dislike the idea of selling to a competitor or to become part of the impersonal portfolio of a private equity fund. We can provide more attractive outcomes, often by helping management buy out or buy into a company. We also can significantly accelerate a seller’s desire to use some of their proceeds to create foundations and other causes that build on their legacy and have a meaningful impact on the world.
